Wilkinsburg, PA — Three people accused of shooting and killing a young mother Thursday are now facing murder charges.

On Friday, warrants were issued for Laya Alana Whitley(21), Dane James Taylor(21), and Kaijin Xavier Scott(23).

The medical examiner identified the victims as 28-year-old Wilkinsburg resident, Keiauna Davis.

Authorities suspect robbery was the motive behind the incident.

Court documents show Davis received her tax return the day of the murder. One of the suspects, Laya Whitley, was a co-worker of Davis. The day of the incident, she apparently sent Dane Taylor a text message regarding the money.

In the texts, Whitley allegedly reveals to Taylor that Davis “brought 7 bands to work.”

More than an hour later, Taylor tells Whitley “It’s a go delete all dez text.”

Authorities say the third suspect, Kaijin Scott, admitted to picking up Taylor…

According to Scott, Taylor told him he needed to get some money from a girl. Taylor instructed him to drive to the Dollar General and park the vehicle in the back of the building. While waiting, Scott said he left the car at one point to urinate by a vacated house. When he returned to the vehicle, Scott said Taylor had put on a mask and was holding a gun.

Scott told investigators that Taylor got a text on his phone saying, “Go!” Taylor then instructed him to follow Davis, who was walking down Laketon Road. Davis told Scott to pull ahead of the victim, get out, and pretend to be fixing the car.

Officers say at that moment Taylor left the vehicle and chased the victim toward an open area. After she dropped to the ground, a struggle took place and Taylor allegedly opened fire, before fleeing to the car with her purse.

In a Facebook post about the incident, one source had this to say about the incident:

She did not have $7,000 on her someone brought her $3,000 to her job and that’s how Laya Whitley found out about the money smh $800 was given to Kaijin Scott and Dane Taylor gave the rest to Laya😠

All three suspects are charged with robbery and criminal homicide, among other crimes.
