A Florida student who posted a tasteless video to Snapchat has now been identified.
Zack Morse, a student at University of North Florida, made a post on the popular social media app days ago where he and his friends refer to Black Lives Matter protesters as “monkeys.”
A still shot of the video shows Morse’s pals in a room acting like monkeys with the following captions…
“THIS IS WHY WE SCREAM BLACK LIVES MATTER. WE ARE NOT MONKEYS. WE ARE NOT ANIMALS. WE ARE FUCKING PEOPLE.”
“What actually went on at the BML [sic] rally”
Morse was outed in a now-viral Facebook post along with a screenshot of his Facebook profile, where he works and the university he attends.
The school’s official website, UNF Spinnaker, spoke with an anonymous source close to Morse who reportedly described the post as an “insider joke” and the situation as being “completely blown out of proportion.”
The source goes on to say that the students involved are “good kids, they’re not assholes.” The insider believes the backlash the students are getting behind the incident is unfair, painting them as victims as their critics as people who are “trying to ruin their lives.”
Morse’s Facebook account is currently deactivated and he has yet to offer a statement on the matter, though he is reportedly “sorry” for the video.
